The Open Hands Open Access (OHOA) Deaf-Blind Learning Modules are a national resource designed to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills related to intervention for students who are deafblind and are being served in educational settings (ages 3-21).
Guided discussions and self-reflection using four online modules of the training series:
W & O: Welcome and Orientation
Module 2: The Sensory System
Module 3: The Role of the Intervener
Module 4: Building Trusted Relationships
Module 5: Availability for Learning
The training includes:
•Hosted module format with engaging case studies, videos, slideshows, short readings, interactive group discussions and more.
•Hearing from families, experts, teachers, interveners, and individuals with deafblindness.
•Rich discussion, and certificate of participation when all four modules are completed.
•Only 2-3 hours are needed to complete each module (each module is available for 3 weeks).
Special Accommodations: Please alert BrightWorks 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
