This training will provide an overview of the Evidence Based Practices Implementation Project (using STAR) 2017-2018 for identified school teams.  Materials including STAR kits, assessment protocols, program and data collection binders, and additional resources will be distributed to each team during this training.  Project participant expectations will be discussed.  Participant teams will set up the first onsite State Coach and STAR Coach visit during this training.  This workshop also includes the introductory (2 day) STAR Workshop. 

STAR Workshop
The instructional methods of discrete trial training, pivotal response training, teaching functional routines, and positive behavior interventions and supports form the instructional base of this comprehensive program. Participants receive examples of STAR Program lesson plans at each instructional level in order to practice their skills in implementing the program. ?

What You Will Learn

  • Learn the STAR Program’s (Arick, Loos, Falco, Krug, 2004) curriculum content ? 
  • Watch video and demonstrations of the three instructional methods in the STAR Program 
  • Learn developmental curriculum content appropriate for students with developmental disabilities curriculum-based assessment techniques for baseline and progress monitoring
  • Learn to use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach new skills
  • Learn a system to teach students to be independent and to generalize skills within their daily routines
