Workshop description:
Yielding a high score on the EIPA greatly improves the positive impact an interpreter has on the educational outcomes of the Deaf children with whom they work, and this workshop is designed to increase interpreter competency not only for the EIPA but ultimately the classroom.
Agenda: Part 2 is the continuation from the Part I where in this day the participants will have the opportunity to utilize what they learned in Part I and apply it to their interpreting work in hands on testing like scenarios. Part 2 will be guided practice in the areas of expressive and receptive work in preparing for the EIPA exam and to improve the overall classroom interpreting work as well. Individual practice, presenter modeling and direct feedback will all be incorporated into Part 2 of this training opportunity. Come prepared to give and get feedback that will directly affect your work and your EIPA test taking preparation.
Presenter/Instructor: Jonathan Silva
Jonathan Silva has 9 years of professional K-12 interpreting and has taken the EIPA several times for research and data collection. Currently holds master scores (4.5 and above) on various forms of the EIPA exam. Jonathan has been teaching EIPA slated workshops for over 5 years and has been met with much enthusiasm and positive feedback. He is currently a district mentor in CA; responsible for training educational interpreters to achieve higher scores on the EIPA and improve the quality of their overall work. Jonathan has mentored over 40 interpreters to passing the EIPA (every interpreter he has personally mentored has passed = 100% success rate).
This program is offered for 5.0 CEH TECUnit hours and .5 RID CEUS.
