Educational interpreters are an integral part of the student's day and their success in the mainstream. Yet they are often not included as part of the team and are not involved in IEP meetings. This workshop will give them the tools and vocabulary to articulate the importance of interpreter participation in IEP meetings. The second part of the workshop will focus on how interpreters are regularly called upon to interpret during standardized testing, but are not given enough or even accurate information to be certain they are not jeopardizing testing scores or validity. This workshop will provide tools and information to better arm the interpreter for the task at hand when they are called upon to interpret during such high stakes tests.
