This network is grant funded and is open only to the following districts/schools: Eden Prairie, Osseo, Roseville, ISD 287, ISD 917, North Heights Christian Academy (NHCA), and St. John School of Little Canada. Participants in the Algebrafication workshops held previously this year are invited to join the Algebrafication Follow-Up Network. An excellent opportunity to continue growing professionally through presentations and training, this network will also give educators an opportunity to connect and ideate with other professionals about challenges, concerns, resources and knowledge.
Presenter: Christy Pettis is a lecturer in the Multiple Pathways to Teaching department at the University of Minnesota, where she currently specializes in mathematics for elementary teachers. She also mentors new teachers and develops PD for teachers in grades K-12. Having taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, she is particularly interested in common ways that algebrafication and a love of mathematics may be cultivated in learners from kindergarten to college.
Event Dates:
Mon, April 16, 2018,12:30 PM—3:30 PM (12:00 Check-in)
Mon, May 21, 2018, 9:00 AM—12:00 PM (8:30 Check-in)
Your participation fee is covered by the grant. No payment is needed from your district. Sub costs are also available through the grant! Participants must arrange for subs. Districts should bill ISD 287 ATTN: JON VOSS for sub costs using the same procedure used for the grant workshops. The grant funds are no longer available after June 30, so please bill well in advance of that date.
Participation fee covers both events.
Special Accommodations: Please alert BrightWorks 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.) Update your profile as needed. Special accommodations are not included with each registration, but are stored in your profile until you make changes.
