WEBINAR SERIES OVERVIEW:
As our EL populations continue to evolve, educators are tasked with the challenge of creating rigorous, yet welcoming environments for learners of linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds. These webinars will address ways you can create a welcoming learning environment for ELs and make language and content accessible for learners from different educational backgrounds and proficiency levels.

Who Should Attend? Content or Grade-Level Teachers, ELL Specialists, Instructional Coaches, Curriculum Specialists, Para-Educators, Teaching Assistants who support English Language Learners in the mainstream.

Participants will:

  •  Identify the most relevant standards in Social Studies curriculum for ELL Accessibility
  •  Learn how to make Scope & Sequence of Social Studies Standards Accessible for EL's

Presenter:
Rainbow Espinosa has been teaching in the Metro Area for 10 years, working with all level of ELs from newcomer to advanced level students. She is currently teaching at North High School in North Saint Paul, working specifically within the Social Studies department. Her work includes an introductory class which pre-teaches Social Studies concepts necessary to fulfill their academic credits for graduation as well as co-teaching a variety of classes for 9-12th grade and advising and collaborating with content teachers on strategies for ELs in mainstream classes. She has a Master of Education in Second Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota.

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.
