THIS EVENT IS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS OF DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS ONLY.
Description: The Fundamentals in the Sentence Writing Strategy teaches developmental writing skills to elementary and secondary students. Teachers of middle and high school students use lessons from this strategy when repetitive errors occur in student work or when they want to provide instruction in parts of speech. Concepts covered in the strategy include a system for checking the accuracy of sentences, four types of simple sentences, and the following parts of speech: nouns, verbs, infinitives, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, and helping verbs.
CEU Hours: Up to 23 upon completion of assignments
Schedule: This cohort will meet virtually 4 times on Tuesdays at 3:30 -5:30 p.m. If a session is missed, teachers can access a captioned recording. “Live” dates are: Oct 2, Oct 23, Nov 13, Nov 27
24/7 ACCESS: Real time training is accessed on any personal computer with Internet connection and scheduled outside of the school day. If a session is missed, teachers can watch a captioned recording. Supplemental materials are available online. Participants have access to virtual coaching until March 31, 2019.
INTERACTIVE: The format is videoconference. Participants can ask questions and share insights “live.” Modeling via document camera is an integral part of each session. Teachers can access virtual coaches and get specific feedback, encouragement, and clarification.
