Metropolitan Education Leaders Network/MELN (formerly MPA)

Leading Change for Modern Learning: A unique professional development opportunity for all school leaders

What is it?

This professional learning model is designed to meet education leaders’ needs and time constraints by blending face-to-face coaching with virtual participation. Participants will gain skills in:

· Developing capacity to lead complex change

· Understanding frameworks and organizational behavior

· Implementing learner-centered models

· Maximizing 1:1 screen cultures

· Planning and executing valuable staff development

· Applying effective coaching models for others

· Identifying and overcoming obstacles

For whom is it designed?

The coaching experience is for all high-performing education leaders moving toward learner-centered cultures.

Why?

School leaders are moving to modern classrooms, innovative tools, and learner-centered cultures to provide opportunities for all students.  Demanding schedules mean that professional learning for leaders is often overlooked, but as districts modernize learning and transform classrooms, leadership is the linchpin for comprehensive change. Coaching develops individual leadership effectiveness and the knowledge and skills for implementing long-term strategic initiatives.

How does it work?

Through a partnership with Coaching School Change, Metropolitan Education Leaders Network/MELN is offering this unique coaching opportunity for leaders involved in these changes related to learner-centered learning. Curated content, collaboration, personalized feedback and strategy development will be experienced through personalized interactions and collaborative digital learning spaces.

What does it include?

Coaching will occur through nine learning opportunities, including collaborative group meetings, virtual book club forums and personal coaching sessions.

· Two face-to-face regional group meetings

· Four individual virtual personal coaching sessions up to one hour in length

· Summary analysis on trending leadership topics

· Virtual book club, selection of three books focused on education and leadership

Who is the coach? Your coach for this opportunity is Yancy Unger. Yancy has over 12 years of experience in coaching school executives through modernizing curriculum and learning models with a focus on staff development, educational technology, eLearning, curriculum design and organizational change.  (Yancy Unger is presenting Modernizing Curriculum for Equitable Opportunities in Learning:  A Leader’s Role on October 9 for the Metropolitan Education Leaders Network/MELN.)

When does it start? This professional learning opportunity begins in December 2018 and ends in June 2019. The first session will be held on Thursday, December 13, 8:30 –11:30 at Metro ECSU; additional dates will be determined by participants.

What does this cost?  Overall, nine coaching interactions which include collaborative group meetings, virtual book club forums and personal coaching sessions. Collaborative group meetings also provide a rich opportunity to network with those outside your district.

Total cost  is $1559.00/participant for MELN members, and $3100 for non-members.

$10 Processing fee applies to all invoices. Send check payable to Metro ECSU, 2 Pine Tree Dr, Suite 101, Arden Hills, MN 55112, Attn: Susan Frame
