Getting Real About Race at School: A Head-on Approach to Racial Equity (Paul Gorski)?

One of the most formidable hurdles in the quest for racially equitable schools is hesitance on the part of educators—especially white educators—to confront racial inequity directly and honestly.

Participants will:

  • Practice rejecting the hesitance and explicitly naming how racism operates, intentionally and unintentionally, in our classroom and schools.
  • Leave with a deeper understanding that comes from this honest confrontation with racial inequity.
  • Discuss what educators can do to root inequity out and embrace equity in all aspects of education.

Registration Fee for Each Workshop:

$100 Metro ECSU Member; $120 Non-member

Please Note: If an invoice is required, an additional $10 processing fee will apply. 

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.

Special Accommodations: Please alert Metro ECSU 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (Metro ECSU requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.) Update your profile as needed. Special accommodations are not included with each registration, but are stored in your profile until you make changes.
