June Skill Development

This workshop will have two parts.  The morning session will focus on skill development for cue reading and voicing.  The afternoon session will focus on a Q&A session for discussion related to using cued speech in the classroom and community.

Presenters:

Angela Zellen is fluent In both ASL and cued speech. She was born with a hearing loss. She first started to learn ASL until cued speech was introduced in preschool at the age of three. Angela knows both cued speech and ASL have contributed to her ability to understand English and to communicate with deaf/hh peers. Angela is currently attending college to pursue a clinical social worker degree. Angela enjoys volleyball, college, meeting new people, psychology, making crafts, attending workshops and many more. Angela is an advocate for cued speech.

Amy Erickson lives in Eagan with her husband and two girls; ages 8 and 5 years old (all 'hearing').  They love to explore the parks in the area, travel and do everything in between; from horseback riding to soccer practice.  Amy was born with a moderate-severe hearing loss, bilaterally and used an FM system growing up. She has been a TDHH for the past 20 years and has been a hoh/Deaf role model with Hands and Voices for the past 3 years. She is passionate about advocacy and education, as she has friends who are hearing, hard of hearing and Deaf; She is always learning.
