**EVENT CANCELED**

Amplifying the Will & Skill Needed to Address Educational Inequity

This workshop will offer a unique opportunity to go beyond what we have learned about equity and diversity and focus on strategies for responding and redressing inequities in classrooms, schools and the greater educational community.

Seema Pothini will use *case studies to present every-day examples of the ways in which racism, sexism, homophobia and heterosexism, class inequities, language bias, religious-based oppression, and other equity and diversity concerns affect students, teachers, families, and other members of our school communities. They involve classroom issues that are relevant to all grade levels and all content areas.

Participants will be able to Practice the process of considering a range of contextual factors including:

  • Checking their own biases
  • Making immediate and longer-term decisions about how to create and sustain equitable learning environments for all students

Who Should Attend?

Teachers, paraprofessionals, coaches, counselors, administrators, and all interested educators

*This workshop will utilize cases from Seema Pothini & Paul Gorski’s book “Case Studies on Diversity and Social Justice Education”. Copies can be purchased for an additional $35.
