Respond Not React:
Increasing Effectiveness in Kids Who Challenge Us

Can’t teach because of misbehavior? Already predicting how the year might end? Don’t let another day go by feeling that way! Join us for motivation and inspiration with practical, easy to use verbal and non-verbal strategies that will build your confidence and capacity working with students who misbehave, so you can handle the behavior with ease and get back to doing what you love: teaching!

Angie will problem solve, and practice with you while discussing and modeling effective techniques from many different behavior management philosophies and personal experiences.  With a focus on being proactive, you will learn ways to enhance what is already working for you, and easily incorporate additional tools to calmly and confidently respond to students with challenging behaviors.

Participants will:

  • Develop a better understanding of the brain and factors impacting behavior
  • Participate in hands-on experiential learning activities that, when transferred to the classroom, will increase engagement and contribution
  • Work through options for “Plan B”, when the most challenging kids don’t respond to these strategies
  • Leave with numerous verbal and non-verbal skills and strategies to proactively and positively impact relationships

Who Should Attend?Teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, nurses, administrators, and other interested educators. If you work with kids in any capacity, this is for you!

Angie Ellsworth MS, LSW, LSC, began her career working with people with disabilities and has spent the past 18 years working with children ages 5-16 with academic, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
