Meeting Purpose:

The Region 11 Low Incidence Literacy Community of Practice is to build capacity and resources in MN areas attempting to implement literacy with struggling readers. The meetings also provide an opportunity for continued community for those who have attended literacy camp and comprehensive literacy trainings.  Our overarching goal is to increase Minnesota Educators’ ability to implement research-based literacy practices with fidelity.

Meeting Agenda:

9:00-9:20      Ice Breaker

9:20-11:00    Instructional Strategies Share per Area of Comprehensive Literacy Small Groups

11:00-12:00 Lunch (on your own)

12:00-12:40 Comprehensive Emergent Literacy Instruction for Students with Significant Disabilities Conference Review (Kayna)

12:40-1:20    Emergent Literacy for Students with CVI and Complex Communication Needs / Scribbling to Learn - Closing the Gap Review (Kayna)

1:20-2:00      Literacy for All Conference Review (Jeff)

2:00-3:00      Enhanced Alphabet knowledge Instruction (Kayna)

CEU Hours: 5 hours (Reading Instruction)

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.

(BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
