Workshop description:

The educational interpreter is an important part of the DHH student’s day. This workshop will encourage interpreters in education to elevate their thought processes, actions, and how they approach their work in the classroom setting. In this interactive workshop, the presenters will include activities to motivate, recharge, and promote professional integrity as well as share a variety of current resources beneficial to the educational interpreter.

Presenters:

Currently in her ninth year as a K-12 interpreter, she has also spent two years interpreting in postsecondary education. In addition, she has been a VRS interpreter for the past seven years. She started presenting locally in 2017 and on a national level in 2019 and has enjoyed every part of the presentation process. Kari volunteers many hours to MRID as a Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee. In her free time, she loves to create and make things through machine embroidery and a vinyl cutting machine.
