Meeting Purpose:

The Region 11 Low Incidence Literacy Community of Practice is to build capacity and resources in MN areas attempting to implement literacy with struggling readers. The meetings also provide an opportunity for continued community for those who have attended literacy camp and comprehensive literacy trainings.  Our overarching goal is to increase Minnesota Educators’ ability to implement research-based literacy practices with fidelity.

Meeting Agenda:

9:00-9:45    Whipshare: How does your district provide training on literacy for Special Education Teachers? If they do not, what kind of                                  training/support do you think would be valuable for your district's work around comprehensive literacy? 

9:45-11:00   International AAC Conference Keynote Video: Why is Literacy Critical in AAC by Karen Erickson  

11:00-12:00 Lunch on your own  
12:00-2:00  Data / Measuring Literacy Growth  
2:00-3:00    Discussion on CoP Shared Digital Resources

CEU Hours: 5 hours (Reading Instruction)

(BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
