Chemical Hygiene Training

This training meets the requirements of the OSHA Standard on "Occupational Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories" (29 CFR 1910.1450). This training will provide an overview of chemical storage best practices and requirements as applicable to a typical high school or middle school science laboratory, as well as important health, safety, and emergency response considerations. Come away from this training with tools to assist in keeping school science labs safe! The following topics will be covered:

•         Regulatory Requirements

•         Standard Operating Procedures

•         Minimizing Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals

•         Emergency Response

•         Lab Safety Considerations

•         Hazardous Waste and Mercury

Presenters:

Amanda Edberg has worked with the Institute for Environmental Assessment for 2 and a half years as a health and safety consultant for educational facilities, performing health and safety inspections, confined space assessments, safety trainings, LOTO assessments, chemical hygiene assessments, radon and lead-in-water testing. Amanda works regularly with school district and other clients to assist with OSHA General Industry compliance.

Mary Ferrian has over 7 years of experience conducting safety and environmental audits for industrial, manufacturing, government and educational facilities throughout the United States, Canada and Haiti. Mary currently manages client EHS programs, including Compliance with Federal OSHA, Emergency Management/Response, Minnesota OSHA, EPA, County Hazardous Waste Regulations, Worker’s Compensation, and Pollution Control Agency regulations.

If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.
