Meeting Purpose:

The Region 11 Low Incidence Literacy Community of Practice is to build capacity and resources in MN areas attempting to implement literacy with struggling readers. The meetings also provide an opportunity for continued community for those who have attended literacy camp and comprehensive literacy trainings.  Our overarching goal is to increase Minnesota Educators’ ability to implement research-based literacy practices with fidelity.

Meeting Agenda:

9:00-9:30 Beginners: Literacy Mythbusters or Advanced: Formative Assessment (Kayna Plaisted & Jeff Booker)
9:30-11:30 Just breathe...removing the scare factor of the Blind/VI World in the educational setting (Sheri Frisque & Megan Purfeerst)
11:30-12:30 Lunch
12:30-1:00 ATiA & Talking with Tech Share outs
1:00-1:30 Sound Wall Discussions
1:30-2:30 CoP Goal Progress & Planning for Next Year

CEU Hours: 2 hr (General); 2.5 hrs (Accommodations, Modification and Adaption of Literacy Curriculum Materials)

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.

Special Accommodations: Please alert Metro ECSU 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (Metro ECSU requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
