Culturally Responsive Educators Framework

As a framework for organizing instruction and educational systems, The Culturally Responsive Educators Framework; Mindset & Skillset supports teachers in planning, fostering and implementing Equitable mindsets and skill sets for all students.

Target Audience: Educators, Leaders, and support staff

The goal of the Culturally Responsive Educators Framework is to help teachers integrate culturally responsive teaching practices through an equitable lens to ensure high quality teaching and learning. The Culturally Responsive Educators Framework is broken into 2 Domains: Mindset and Skill Set.  

The 7 Components include 19 features:

  1. The Four Tenets of Teaching Through a Culturally Diverse and Equitable Lens
  2. Self-Awareness
  3. Why Culture Matters
  4. Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy
  5. Moving from Deficit to Asset Approaches
  6. Becoming Equity Advocates and Equity Brokers
  7. Achieving Cultural Competence

When implemented to a high degree, the Culturally Responsive Educators Framework is proven to:

  • Increase student achievement
  • Improve educator awareness of inequities in systems and classrooms
  • Deliver results aligned to equitable best practices
  • Prepare both students and teachers to become culturally and racially responsive

The Culturally Responsive Educators Framework is designed as a 4-day learning series based on research from Glenn Singleton, Zaretta Hammond, Paul Gorsky, and Dr. Sheldon Ekins

Facilitator, Martina Wagner, Ed. D

Dr. Martina Wagner has a background in serving English Language Learners that has spanned over twenty years in grades pre-K through adult education. Her professional passions and expertise include best practice and programming for ELs, Sheltered Instruction (SIOP®), Co-teaching, Special Education Identifications of ELs, WIDA assessments, and English Language Learning assessments and data

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.

(BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
