The Open Hands Open Access (OHOA) DeafBlind Learning Modules are a national resource designed to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills related to intervention for students who are deafblind and are being served in educational settings (ages 3 -21).

Guided coursework using four online modules of the training series:

W & O:     Welcome and Orientation (only for new cohort members)

Module 1    Overview of Deafblindness                        

Module 2    The Sensory System                            

Module 4    Building Trusting Relationships                        

Module 5    Availability for Learning  


The training includes:
•Hosted module format with engaging case studies, videos, slideshows, short readings, interactive discussion boards and more.
•Learning from experts, teachers, interveners, individuals with deafblindness, and families.
•Distance coaching, and course CEUs upon completion of all four modules
•Only 1-2 hours per week are needed to complete the modules (each module takes approximately 3 weeks to complete).

Upon completion of all 4 modules, documentation will be submitted for 2.4 RID CEUs for educational ASL interpreters.

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.

Special Accommodations: Please alert BrightWorks 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.) Update your profile as needed. Special accommodations are not included with each registration, but are stored in your profile until you make changes.
