Workshop description: There is increasing importance being placed on the role of math signs in the high school classroom and the impact on learning and testing. Many educational interpreters and teachers have different signs for certain mathematical terminology, and it is possible that a lack of standardization may impact student learning. This workshop is in response for the overwhelming request from the August 15, 2022, presentation. Educational interpreters specifically have requested higher level and visual representations of math concepts with ASL signs. The presentation is designed to help you to become familiar with advanced mathematical terms and how to apply them in classroom settings.
Workshop objectives:
- • Demonstrate an improved understanding of the interpreting process for Math Language topics
• Incorporate illustrations from school math textbooks into interpretations
• Analyze Math Language and create varied interpretations into the target language
• Use visualization techniques to better inform their interpretation of Math Language materials
CEU Hours: 0.2 RID CEUs, Sponsored by ASLIS
