Introduction to Restorative Practice Training
Facilitator: Stephen Shepherd Jr
What are Restorative Practices and Restorative Circles?
All humans are hardwired to connect. Just as we need food, shelter and clothing, human beings also need strong and meaningful relationships to thrive.
Restorative Practices and Restorative Circles are a social science that examines how to strengthen relationships between individuals, build social connections, within communities and the workplace. Restorative Practice is a practice that informs strategies for creating community and repairing when there has been harm or conflict. Restorative Circles serve as a great tool for creating community. Also, for repairing when harm has been done, restoring relationships, and sustaining community.
Restorative Practices and Restorative Circles are being applied in the following settings:
- K-12 Schools/Districts and Higher Education
