Engaging students in authentic STEM based learning allows students to be innovative entrepreneurs. For the most engaging tasks students need to have the opportunity to demonstrate creativity. Creativity leads to persistence, critical thinking, curiosity, and deeper understanding of core concepts in mathematics and science. However, as we consider programs for highly able students in STEM, how do we promote creativity? In this day long workshop, participants will work with three experts in supporting students in learning to be innovative through creativity. Included in this engaging day of learning is lunch and two books: Sparking Student Creativity and Making Makers: Kids, Tools, and the Future of Innovation to support in reflecting upon the day's learning.
