It is never too early, or more important, to prepare for life after graduation. This interactive session will share resources and strategies to help teachers guide students and their families through effective transition planning. Critical transition considerations and ideas will be shared. Class time will be given to explore the provided transition resources. Finally, participants will collaborate in creating transition plans and ideas that can be used with students/families during the school year.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Identify the characteristics of effective transition planning
• Explain the essential student skills of each transition area (Independent Living, Employment, Education & Training)
• Apply the transition planning collaboration model at future IEP meetings
• Brainstorm and create a plan to work with students and their families throughout the school year

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.
Special Accommodations: Please alert BrightWorks 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
