This workshop is designed for the Sign Language Interpreter who is already mentoring or interested in becoming a mentor in the K-12 setting. Participants will review the Minnesota educational interpreter law and the mentoring requirements. They will engage in activities and interactive discussion on the topics of resources and support in the educational setting as well as classroom based mentoring strategies. Participants will leave not only with the knowledge of what is needed to mentor successfully in the classroom but will have tools and materials at their fingertips.
Requirement for K-12 Mentors:
Certification: NIC, CI/CT, NAD IV or V
Minimum of 3 years of experience interpreting in any educational setting (including post-secondary settings)

Cancellation: You can cancel your own registration for an event before the cancellation deadline. (Please check the event information for specific cancellation details.) If the event has a fee, refunds are possible only if cancellation is prior to the deadline. If you do not attend and do not cancel prior to an event, you are still responsible for payment and will be billed.
Special Accommodations: Please alert BrightWorks 2-3 weeks prior to the workshop/event if you need special accommodations, including sign language interpreters. (BrightWorks requires a notice of 2 business days to cancel a sign language interpreter. If you fail to cancel, we reserve the right to bill your school/district for this expense.)
