Three Day Mathematics Series: Come for one, two, or three days. Jan 10, Feb 6, Mar 23, 2017.
Many districts are engaged in work addressing racially conscious, socially just systems. This series will build on this culturally responsive work, drilling deeper to apply the concepts specifically to Math. Attendees will delve into effective teaching practices of mathematics to empower educators and ensure mathematical success for each and every learner, as described in "Principles to Action" by NCTM.
Day 3-Mar 23 The Danger of the Single Story/Curriculum and Assessment
A. Explore technical and cultural challenges in mathematics education.
B. Examine strategies to overcome challenges and ensure the mathematical success of each and every learner.
C. Discuss next steps to providing high quality education in your specific setting.
Day 1-Jan 10 Mathematical Mindsets/Teaching and Learning
Day 2-Feb 6 The Impact of Identity/Access and Equity
